Mad Max Fury Road Releases New Trailer 4

After a 30-year hiatus, George Miller’s Mad Max is back and he’s in like no dystopian movie we’ve ever seen. It’s got heavy metal machinery, high-speed action, a whole lot of sand and a whole lot of crazy.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Australia where water is scarce and people are killing each other over “guzzolene”, the haunted Max “Mad Max” Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) finds his lone, nomadic life interrupted by a group of rebels – led by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) – fleeing across the Wasteland from a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe (Huge Keays-Byrne). Nicholas Hoult and Zoe Kravitz also star.

The newly released trailer throws the cast against a water-starved landscape of endless orange sand, a world described by the titular character to be one of “fire and blood”. Theron sports a buzzcut and a badass, rougish deameanour, while co-star Hoult is unrecognisable as the bald, eerishly pale and crazed Nux, a young warrior who looks like he is in serious need of a chapstick. Verdi’s “Requiem” cleverly backs the intense trailer, making the gun-loaded, explosion-filled sequences seem almost operatic.

The overall imagery is so brutishly stunning, even non-followers of the franchise will be intrigued.

Mad Max Fury Road Releases New Trailer 5

While the audience will definitely be paying attention to Hardy and his undertaking of Miller’s iconic Road Warrior, a role previously played by Mel Gibson in the franchise’s previous three instalments, our eyes will also be on Abbey Lee Kershaw, who will be making her film debut through Mad Max. The angel-faced and thoroughly missed Australian model took a two-year break to work on her role as The Dag, an escapee from Immortan Joe’s camp. Kershaw will be joined by fellow models Riley Keough, Courtney Eaton and Victoria’s Secret Angel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Mad Max: Fury Road is set for release on May 15, 2015.
