The dichotomy between architecture and space, says Stefano Pilati, was the starting point for Ermenegildo Zegna Couture’s Spring 2015 campaign. Photographed by Dutch duo Inez & Vinoodh, the campaign sets models against a rough and worn industrial landscape, where they gallivant across the concrete rooftops of an undefined metropolis.

The cinematic feel and graphic layout, which is in tandem with the Italian house’s previous two campaigns, draws inspiration from the works of the legendary German director Wim Wenders.

“My first aim, besides working on the collections, has always been about using intuition, and this dichotomy (between architecture and space), which inspired Ermenegildo Zegna’s Couture Spring 2015 fashion show, defines the basis of this campaign, where the location itself is an essential component,” shares Pilati.

Clad in a melancholic palette of blues and greys and in sporty silhouettes that speak of a certain kind of insouciance, the models embody Zegna’s idea of a “New Leader”, a man who dominates his own world with an understated demeanour and a sense of personal freedom, an individual who effortlessly fuses seemingly opposites in a personal expression of modern aesthetics.
