Marc By Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2014 Collection

  • By Men's Folio

The reinvigorated Marc By Marc Jacobs fall/winter 2014 collection takes on a new attitude with heavy references to BMX and motocross elements juxtaposed with punchy ninja references.  A striking departure from its former romantic, vintage-inspired aesthetics, the new Marc by Marc Jacobs menswear collection delves into a whole new landscape of action sports and British youth subculture that will surely expand its appeal to a generation of boys (and trend-savvy men) who love having fun with fashion.

For its debut, the refreshed collection was delivered with great clarity and exhibited themes carried over from its women’s Ready-To-Wear collection.  While the collection’s DNA is still very much rooted in streetwear. Utilitarian staples such as down puffer jackets were reworked with a shiny coating and intentionally oversized, paired underneath with a plaid kimono-inspired jacket and voluminous shorts that flaunt graphic prints. Bomber jackets were executed in silk and again rendered all over with motocross prints, which echoed throughout the collection, and Japanese-inspired motifs on neoprene long sleeve sweatshirts.
