Spring/Summer 2015 Trend Report: Denim

  • By Men's Folio

No longer reserved for cowboys and teen popstars of the nineties, the ever-reliable and steadfast denim takes a surprising centrestage this spring, with designers across the board sending models down the runway decked almost entirely in the trusty workwear fabric.

Dark denim suits were spotted at Prada, Christophe Lemaire and Burberry Prorsum, with Christopher Bailey taking it one step further by layering them over jean jackets. Kris Van Assche opts for the lighter and worn alternative for Dior Homme, while Phillip Lim, Yohji Yamamoto and the Kenzo duo presented denim in the form of trenchcoats, bomber jackets, jumpsuits and even ponchos. The material is Junya Watanabe’s key ingredient for the season, with the avant garde designer taking a more textured approach, patchworking different washes with pinstripes and checks.

If you were looking for a sign to start rocking that denim on denim on denim look, this is it.
