Gear up with Furla and Throttle On

Before we introduce the new Furla collection for men, it is vital to establish that Furla, best known for its Furla Candy bag for ladies, is also dedicated to crafting stylish leather goods for men. The Italian house, founded by Aldo Furlanetto in 1927 in Bologna, grounds its ethos in time-honoured craftsmanship, sophisticated elegance, and playful originality. These values are apparent in Furla’s women’s line, and it is time men discover that they can find the same commitment in accessories Furla designed for them.

Furla Fall/Winter ‘18 collection for men is inspired by motorbikes – there is simplicity in the clean lines, and there is complexity in man’s desire for freedom and his impending conquest of the road ahead. Decades of Italian design ignited the passion in the range of Furla accessories – the curvilinear shapes of 1940s military motorcycles, the stylish ease of 1950s mopeds, the freewheeling 1960s, and the formal geometric styles of the 1970s and 1980s.

Furla’s Fall/Winter ‘18 men collection is best embodied by the Mercurio line. The top handle bag made of smooth calf leather can be instantly recognised as being translated from a motorcycle’s bodywork, and the hardware’s light satin finish reminds one of a bike’s bolt. Furla Mercurio comes in two variants, a top handle style and a travel tote style, affording men the choice between a wide or tall bag. Both roomy options come with shoulder straps to provide additional ease when wielding the stylish travel piece across borders.

An all-black bag usually looks dull, but the sharp sleekness of a Mercurio bag makes it hard to miss. To create the Mercurio bag, Furla artisans first painstakingly fashion the inner lining and glue the sides together. Then, they would use a sewing machine to apply all the stitches and reinforce the bag by pressing the sides with a plier. All these handworks ensure a perfect handcrafted bag. However, the cherry on top is in the next step called “Scardatura”, where the edges of the bag are given its killer smooth sharpness with a special machine.

There are other propositions in the Furla Mercurio line-up. The top handle style also comes in a jacquard fabric with a panther motif on its body while the travel tote style boasts an industrial-looking option with black and white checks emblazoned with the motto “Stay Reckless”. Both versions are ideal for men with a penchant for making style statements with their accessories, living life on the edge like a panther or just being a rebel at heart.

Another beauty from the Furla Fall/Winter ‘18 collection is the Icaro messenger bag, complete with belt and leather fringe details like a biker jacket. The Furla Icaro sets itself apart from other messenger bags, which usually have simple flap covers, with ring-zip closures to give it a rock-star attitude. Its top handle allows it to be carried like a modern satchel.

People can say style is in the attitude, but for bikers, it is ATGATT – the accessory one carries, a Furla bag specifically, will define your biker cool.
