Despite countless scientific studies surrounding global warming, there’s still a handful of environmental skeptics and pseudoscientists who deny the threat of climate change.

On 14 November 2017, Louis XIII Cognac launched “100 Years” — The Song We’ll Only Hear If We Care, a classified musical composition in collaboration with Pharrell Williams set to release in 2117. It’s a call-to-action fuelled by both parties’ shared dedication to environmental issues and the need to raise awareness for younger generations.

Williams’s exclusive track was sealed onto a record made of clay (a by-product produced from cognac) and stored within a safe in the cellars of Louis XIII. The bespoke safe was specifically designed by vault specialist Fichet-Bauche, and is crafted in such a way that it can only be destroyed when submerged underwater. The project reflects the significance of rising sea levels due to climate change, as scientists have projected the Earth to be fully inundated in the next century.

At the vanguard of forward thinking and innovative research, Louis XIII ‘s early involvement with the United Nations Global Compact seeks to reduce the brand’s greenhouse gases and carbon footprint. Thus, it’s only natural for the French group to partner up with one of pop culture’s most influential figures to inspire the current zeitgiest to think a century ahead, and be passionate about preserving Mother Earth.
