The COS Spring/Summer 2018 collection explores the organic shapes and natural materials associated with paper to craft a series of understated modern classics, composed in interchangeable modular ways.
The qualities of paper are plainly evident in the boxy pattern cutting and gauzy paper draping and 3D sculpting of the clothes. These silhouettes inform new proportions and details, starkly executed in a clean and precise manner.
The designs are brought to life using an array of cottons — textured, coated, crisp, crumpled — while lightweight knits are spun from barely-there silks, chunky paper yarns and starched summer wools. Technical innovations like coated Tyvek are interspersed throughout to re-imagine timeless pieces.
The paper composition is completed with a refined colour palette that moves from pure white to wood-inspired tones to summer browns, splashed with natural accents of ochre, leaf green, mint, navy, petrol and red clay.
