MF Collaborates With Singapore’s Hottest Bars To Bring You The Best Of This Festive Season

  • By Men's Folio

Gear up for an exhilarating month of celebration. The type of holiday shindig will decide which of these thematic settings you’ll immerse in as you explore Singapore’s spirits spectrum. As such, we’ve rounded up Singapore’s hottest bars with new offerings that will gladly help you kickstart your festive party plans.

 Atlas Bar

Those planning to celebrate in excess can indulge fully in the sheer grandeur of Atlas bar. The lavish watering hole commands most of the cavernous grand lobby at Parkview Square — also known as Singapore’s “Gotham building” — and transports visitors back to the Roaring Twenties with gilded interiors featuring plenty of decadent Art Deco details. Beyond the visual spectacle of gold accents, restored frescoes and graphic etchings, the menu by executive chef Daniele Sperindio is also carefully researched to reflect the era.

The giddy side of Twenties’ wealth and glamour is greased by generous libation, and Atlas doesn’t disappoint with its ambitious selection of gin. Curated and collected by its Master of Gin, over 1,000 varieties — from 1910 London dry gins to modern craft gins from around the world — is displayed in the soaring three-storey high tower/chiller. Beneath the monument is a dedicated space for Atlas’s selection of 250 types of champagne, which includes a clutch of shipwrecked bottles reportedly priced at $200,000 each.

  • Skin Christmas Gin, Elderflower Tonic, mint

Auld Alliance

2

The Auld Alliance is perfect for gents who want a classy and intimate gathering. Hidden away on the quiet second floor of Rendezvous Hotel, the bespoke whisky bar boasts arguably the largest whisky collection in Southeast Asia with close to 1,500 selections, including vintage bottlings dating back to 1863. There are also other tasting sets — rum, cognac, wines, absinthe — to ensure an enlightening experience whatever your tastes.

The bar’s isolated setting in a classical library style is conducive for intellectual tête-à-tête among like-minded individuals, with handsome chesterfield couches, rows upon rows of bottle-lined bookshelves, and a 70-page tome/menu adding to its authenticity. There’s even a fiercely private 14-seater room for the most secretive of societies. This holiday season, co-founder Emmanuel Dron recommends the Single Cask of Kavalan Dark Sherry to accompany your gentlemen’s evening: soaked in the richness of raisins, cocoa powder, with additional marzipan, nuts and black liquorice, the spirit holds a full creamy texture rife with aromas that remind of a Christmas cake.

Sum Yi Tai

Who says you can’t have an amorous affair during the holidays? Hidden behind neon-lit gates, designer bar Sum Yi Tai pays tribute to the romanticism of 1980s gangster-rife Hong Kong in a three-storey shophouse along Boon Tat Street. There’s a cheeky tapas bar on the ground floor, an intimate lounge with private karaoke room on the second floor, and a romance-ready rooftop bar — all decked out in vibrant Chinese kitsch. Despite its red-light glamour and “Third Wife” moniker, Sum Yi Tai is hardly a seedy establishment, so find a loved one and overcome inhibitions with themed cocktail concoctions, unwind with classic canto-pop, and get cosy behind coloured glass screens and rattan furniture.
