This year, Swiss watchmaker Omega announced that it will join the Volvo Ocean Race with the prestigious role as the event’s Official Timekeeper. The Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 will see teams sailing across 45,000 nautical miles around the world, starting their journey in Alicante, Spain, and finishing in The Hague next June. It will be an adventure across four oceans, touching six continents and 12 landmark Host Cities, including destinations as far as Cape Town, Hong Kong and even Auckland, New Zealand.
Accompanying the treacherous expedition is luxury Swiss watch brand Omega, known for its precision, accuracy and pioneering spirit in sports timekeeping, Having assumed the role of Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games on 27 occasions since 1932, Omaga’s passion for the ocean is a voyage in itself. In its long history on the waves, Omega has most notably partnered with Emirates Team Zealand on its various quests for the America’s Cup since 1995.

I’m certain that their timekeeping and sailing experience will be a great benefit to all involved.”
To celebrate this new partnership, Omega has launched the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M “Deep Black” in red: a black ceramic chronometer attached on adjustable rubber straps.
