Being in the industry for more than 40 years, Paul Smith’s flair for whimsicality and artistic expression continues to be applauded in the menswear sector.
While many of us are still coveting the colourful feather-themed garments from his AW17 runway collection, the British veteran designer reveals yet another vibrant release: the ‘Paul Smith Dino Capsule Collection’. For some, it might not come as a shock seeing as Paul Smith’s Dino motif was first introduced on the AW16 men’s catwalk.
Designed in various forms and colours, these playful illustrations make up the essence of the label’s upcoming capsule debut. The motifs appear on crewneck tees and jumpers, swim shorts, low and hi-top canvas sneakers, knitted socks, and tote bags, as the British designer gives a stylistic upgrade to your everyday wear. Smith’s innovative approach to key staples goes beyond aesthetic appearance; swim shorts are made from fast-drying recycled fabric, while T-shirts are woven in organic cotton — perhaps a nod to sustainable fashion.
For future capsule collections, Smith plans to further design new styles of classic silhouettes such as polo shirts and leather accessories, expanding the birth of the brand’s Dino icon. Encompassing the overall capsule ‘Dino’ experience is an interactive Dino Jumper mobile app — available since its 2016 debut— free to download for both iPhone and Android users.
To commemorate the launch of Paul Smith’s AW17 Dino Capsule Collection on 7 September, and in celebration of Club 21’s 45th anniversary, the label will include a T-shirt in an exclusive colour that’s only available in Singapore stores. Ending the celebrations with a bang, a Paul Smith Dino claw machine will be at ION Basement 2 from the 8 – 10 September, 11am – 8pm, for a chance to grab and win attractive prizes. (Hint: Prizes include exclusive shopping privileges as well as Paul Smith products.)
The capsule collection will be available at Hilton Hotel 02-24 and ION Orchard 03-21 stores.
