Saint Laurent releases a new collection of decorative patches for Fall/Winter 2017

  • By Ian Lee

Placing multiple patches on backpacks, pouches, wallets and cardholders is not something new to the house of Saint Laurent. In fact, the brand previously did just that on accessories in black leather, and black or camouflage canvas. But if the precursory sparkly patches – with glittery rainbow or diamond motifs – were a little too glitzy for your taste, the new series of patches for Fall/Winter 2017 appear to have a more collegiate and vintage inspiration.

There is a red YSL crest that is adorned with stars, and another that declares “YSL Smoking Forever”. The other symbols used: a flag that will get you enrolled into the style school of “Saint Laurent Universite”, a badge inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s scandalous 1971 collection, and a patch that pays tribute to the designer’s dapper French bulldog named Moujik. These new patches are found on a range of backpacks, zip pouches, wallets, card cases and key fobs.
