You know what they say: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The adage best describes the pre-fall collections, and especially the neoclassic ones of Bottega Veneta. “These are versatile pieces to update a man’s wardrobe and the silhouettes are a continuation of the Spring/Summer 2017 runway (collection),” explains creative director Tomas Maier.
Colours – including deep moss green, denim blue, dark burgundy, expresso brown and greys like steel, smoke and cement – are deep and slightly off-kilter. The silhouettes, on the other hand, are of neat tailoring that cut close to the body, with trousers being straight-legged or gently tapered towards the bottom.
Materials wise, Bottega Veneta’s Cervo, Nappa and Nappa Suede make the collection’s staples. Bags focus on pragmatic shapes with weekend carriers, shoppers, and document and brief cases. Calfskin city sneakers are the less formal shoe option, and dressy lace ups and Chelsea boots display the house’s iconic link seam weave.
