Diesel Spring/Summer 2017: ’80s Pop Hues and Rock Star Essentials

  • By Ian Lee

Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti is no stranger to music and its icons. He and his work were thrust into the limelight after he assumed the role of Lady Gaga’s main collaborator in 2009, styling her for her iconic music videos including Bad Romance and Born This Way, and working on her most memorable awards show looks – including one infamous 2010 MTV Video Music Awards “meat dress” by Franc Fernandez.

Now a seasoned pop star stylist, Formichetti delves into Miami and ’80s pop for his Diesel Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The hero piece in the collection must be the black and white leather jacket stamped with “Miami Music Lovers Club” on its back. And there are plenty more rock star-worthy garments where that came from: a black sweatshirt with supersized eyelets, bleached denim hoodies, short sleeve button-downs that wouldn’t look out of place on Adam Levine, and all pink ensembles that the boldest of rappers will pull off with aplomb.
