Raise The Game With Uniqlo’s Jogger Pants

  • By Men's Folio

With the introduction of Uniqlo’s latest clever hybrid, its Jogger Pants, you don’t just get smart clothes – you get an undeniably smart look too. Because the versatile Jogger Pants are designed to work hard – so you can perform at your best – we’ve put together the ultimate tips on how you could approach asking for the raise that you deserve. For most, asking for a raise is probably more unlikely than filing taxes ahead of time or drawing up a spring cleaning list. Here’s what you need to know – how much to ask for, and the best time to make your request – before you finally cinch that raise.

How to ask for a raise – and get it

Time it right

Timing is key. If you miss the opportunity, or bring it up at the wrong time, it can be a career killer. If you have recently blown your budget, fallen short of your targets, or had a major screw-up, forget about that raise for a while. If you’ve just sealed a big deal, taken on more responsibilities, or helped to solve some major problem, it’s the time to speak to your boss. And believe it or not, Mondays are generally bad, Fridays are better and mornings are the best time.

Sell, don’t beg

You will only be entitled to a raise based on the value of work you bring to the company – not because you have a mortgage, or a wife and five kids to support. That’s not relevant to the company, so don’t beg for more money because you need it. Sell your best qualities and achievements to your boss instead.

Be Reasonable

No one is going to pay a receptionist an accountant’s salary. Every role has its salary range – once you’ve reached that glass ceiling, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to demand for more, unless the market value for your job increases.
