A year is an eternity in fashion, so we thought we would share with you what we stumbled upon while scouring the Internet the other day: American-born Chinese model Eric Thai in a fittingly nostalgic Mickey Mouse tee from Uniqlo’s Spring 2011 UT collection. Eric, who’s majoring in business marketing at the City University of New York, is donning what we would have been spotted in during our sadly long-gone college days: a cute slogan tee in dusty pink, large rimmed glasses to conceal the all-nighters we’ve pulled, a grungy leather cuff and a snug scarf in a spiffy houndstooth check, to counter the freezing temperatures of our lecture halls. In other words, this is casual-wear for the affected hipster slash intellectual. Is it any coincidence that this campaign shot was styled by Uniqlo’s fashion director and enfant terrible Nicola Formichetti? We think not.
