Alfred Dunhill continues to give accomplished British men from an eclectic range of backgrounds a pulpit upon which to proffer inspiring bon mots on life, style and everything in between. This Spring, the august men’s maison has chosen to pick the brains of fearless young mountaineer Geordie Stewart; prolific musician Brian Eno; and veteran lensman Don McCullin.
As always, the portraits are exquisitely framed and shot in stark black-and-white, an aesthetic decision that forces the viewer to truly focus on the voice of the speaker. Photog Don McCullin’s quietly powerful admission of the chilling effects of war, in particular—”the pictures I took have been very difficult for me to live with over the years”—is especially moving.
