Art Republik explores the intricate and much-used relationship between art and fashion. In line with the theme, Art Republik shines the spotlight on prominent personalities who connected the two forms.
This includes pieces on Diana Vreeland, Steven Meisel, Mario Testino and Nick Knight. Of course, how could the glossy miss out Singapore’s very own couture collector, Emily Hwang?
The highlight has to be the spreads shot by Oliver Henry (who was also the lensman for Hwang’s shoot) and interviews with notable individuals from the art world such as Ming Wong, Domingo Zapata, Michael Peppiatt, Robert Bartoux and Wang Wei.
“When we say art and fashion, we are not discussing the regular subject matters associated with fashion: the latest runway trends, the hottest designers nor the best deals in town — no, instead we are scrutinizing on its intersect; where fashion meets art,” says Marc Wong, Managing Editor of Art Republik.
Keeping in line with their DNA, the magazine continues to explore the world of contemporary art and culture, highlighting them with features on the Indonesian art scene and a peek into the upcoming art fairs happening in Singapore and New York. Art Republik will also be the Affordable Art Fair (Singapore) from 23-25 May 2014
Like her sister titles at Heart Media, Art Republik will be having a presence at the Singapore Yacht Show from 10-13 April 2014.
