Laure and Kate Mulleavy, the duo behind the indie high-fashion label Rodarte, always has the coolest, and often morbid list of explanations behind their collections. For their Spring/Summer 2013 womenswear collection, the sisters listed movies such as The Dark Crystal, Lord of the Rings, E.T., The Never Ending Story, among others, as their sources of inspiration. In lieu with their string of film obsessions, the sisters collaborated with director Todd Cole (their third alliance) in This Must Only Be Fantasy, a whimsical, dreamy, weird, trippy, bizarre… (and we can go on) high-fashion mash-up film inspired by their Spring/Summer 2013 show. This short film stars newcomer Sidney Williams, model Guinevere Van Seenus and veteran actor Elijah Wood in a video-game-esque story of a search and rescue adventure.
