BE THERE: Tod’s launch of the ‘Sartorial Touch’

  • By Men's Folio

Display Men’s Folio was recently invited to Tod’s press-release for their Fall/Winter 2013 collection held at their Paragon flagship store, and all we can say it was simply another luxuriously opulent collection of footwear and bags in the best leather and furs Europe has to offer.  But aside from their already successful range of fashion products, Tod’s also introduced the inauguration of a new ultra-luxury space in their Milan flagship store (22 Via Spiga) named the ‘Sartorial Touch.’

The concept behind the ‘Sartorial Touch’ was to dedicate an entire floor specifically to Made to Order products – shoes, bags, luggage and small leather accessories; from choosing your own leather type to treatment and color, the Tod’s customers will be able to make their own dream item entirely out of their imagination. Vintage English Men’s clubs inspired the layout of the floor itself where the most elusive and exclusive customers have access.

Diego Della Valle, the owner of Tod’s Group, explains that the whole point of reviving the whole concept of a Gentleman’s Club was to have his customers interact and relax in the American Bar, lounge, as well as private tailoring desks, bringing them a nostalgic vibe that most couture services rarely have these days.

The classic Tod’s bags also sees resurgence and was blessed with a youthful touch through the incorporation of colors in their iconic double bands: sure-statement pieces to take to the office. Clothing wise, though limited in number, Tod’s has managed to create a few classic and timeless outerwear that’ll bring you through your lifetime: A camel zip-up jacket with a double collar (a trend we’re seeing on the runway) made out of the softest of suede and a black blazer also done with ultra-lush suede were on display for us to touch and feel. We can definitely see a modern jet setter rocking these jackets on their travels abroad.
