Vintage Versace: Eros Resurrects Greek God of Love

  • By Men's Folio

Here’s a sexy snippet teasing Versace’s latest men’s parfum. Watch this short clip of the soon-to-be-released campaign film—and you’ll get an idea of why this scent has been christened Eros. Greek mythology 101: Eros was the swarthy son of the love goddess Aphrodite, and was himself a harbinger of an earthy, erotic form of desire.

The campaign captures all of the Greek god’s sensuality: lensed by fashion enfant terribles Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and starring strapping American model Brian Shimansky, the set evokes the smoldering ruins of a crumbling pantheon. Meanwhile, the man strides about the fallen colonnades in an open silk robe emblazoned with a garish print very reminiscent of Gianni Versace’s 1990s aesthetic. A wind machine ripples and tugs at his scanty raiment, exposing his equally colorful briefs…very camp, very entertaining—and more than a little sexy. We’re looking forward to the video in full already. More to come!
